Has Top Gun DOOMED Amazon's LOTR?
Things are not looking good for Hollywood or streaming platforms and that is why the expected hit of 2022, Top Gun Maverick looks set to seal the fate of much of the dabbling in politically motivated entertainment by Hollywood, if it wishes to survive. The new Amazon LOTRs, especially could be the next massive casualty in Hollywood.
A Hollywood that has gotten used to making movies and tv shows that nobody wants and nobody likes.
In fact, you are not even told who the enemy in the movie is, while it is not hard to deduce, it does not mix the current political climate in with the entertainment that is being delivered. There was no forced identity issues, no emasculating of the main characters or the Mary Sueing of the females, and this sets the movie apart from others in the current year and why it has done, in my opinion so well.
On the other hand, things are not looking so good for Amazon's forthcoming return of cinema to Middle Earth. 'The Lord of the Rings' prequal will cost $1 billion ...
