The Redhead Paradox Nobody Talks About
September 06, 2026

Before the joke, there was the omen. Before the omen, there was the god of chaos and a pharaoh whose youth happened to wear the same color. That collision should have been enough to end the “this started in the 1990s” theory.
Americans like a tidy origin story. The redhead slur, they insist, arrived fully formed from a cartoon and a playground. It is a convenient story. It is also incomplete. The hair had already been doing work in the human imagination for a very long time.
South Park didn't invent the ginger stereotype. It popularized one particular version of an idea that had already been circulating in Western culture for generations.
Red hair occupies a peculiar position in the human imagination. It is uncommon enough to be immediately noticeable, yet familiar enough that virtually everyone recognizes it. Rarity creates a paradox. The less common a look becomes, the more it registers. The more it registers, the more some people want it gone from the frame.
Out now, and as always, thanks so much for sticking with me. It is very much appreciated and I hope your weekend goes well.
Be well.

Each may seem insignificant in isolation. Together, they can affect how people work, cooperate, and plan for the future.
My new video explores the hidden importance of social trust and why its deterioration can change the experience of everyday life.

She Voted for This

A few seconds of footage can become a political Rorschach test. Some viewers see regret; others see hypocrisy, confusion or a convenient symbol for everything they already believe. But how much can we really know about a stranger from a brief expression? The more interesting question is why millions of people are so eager to assign that expression a meaning. The video looks beyond the immediate spectacle to examine the assumptions that make this kind of meme so powerful.

Europe, You're Next

France's impossible position  —  France appears to be approaching a moment when the usual political compromises may no longer work. Spend more, and the financial pressures deepen. Cut back, and the political backlash could be severe. Keep postponing the hard decisions, and the eventual reckoning becomes more difficult. How did a country with France's resources and institutions arrive at a position where every option seems to carry a serious cost? In my latest video, I examine the deeper forces behind the crisis — and why the consequences may reach far beyond French borders.
