Picture the whole West like one big leaking cruise ship. Australians are up on the top deck mocking the Americans down in steerage for drowning in medical debt. Europeans are leaning over the railing laughing at our “feral individualism.” Meanwhile we’re yelling back about their crumbling welfare states and endless queues. Everyone’s got their favorite insult, everyone’s sure their section of the boat is still dry. Except the water’s rising everywhere, same speed. It stopped being funny a while ago.

One measure of the intellectual and moral degeneration of the West over the last decades is the now near-total ignorance of the founding Classics of Western civilization, even among the so-called educated class.
The Greek philosopher Aristotle believed that the ideal of citizenship entailing civic duties and group solidarity, necessarily requires a strong common identity and a sharp differentiation between citizens and foreigners.
However, every aspect of the current iteration of the American Republic not only rejects the ideas of Aristotle - who had a profound effect on the Founding Fathers, but indeed welcomes all that that brings about tyranny.
